Founder & Managing Director, Rising Tide
Chris started his career as a representative footballer and gave everything on the field. This taught him a great deal about life – rejection, resilience, motivation, the need to be physically and mentally fit and above all, teamwork.
With these life lessons under his belt he studied at Stanford Business School and embarked on a career in business at MLC. It was here that he noticed a gap in the market for simple financial advice targeted at people starting their financial journey.
When he sought advice in his 20’s, he felt traditional financial planners didn’t speak his language or implied he was not cashed up enough to be valued as a serious client. Underwhelmed by his experience Chris launched Rising Tide (formerly Financial Design for Life) specialising in financial advice for a new generation.
Chris was on the money. Today Rising Tide is a huge success, growing by almost 30 per cent year on year. Chris employs Australia’s best talent and his company equips young people with the tools for a successful life. Rising Tide lend an ear and take their young clients seriously – offering positive realistic feedback and support to reach their goals sooner.
Chris is driven to help others. Through his business he has established himself as a highly sought after motivational speaker and wealth coach. His audiences appreciate his matter of fact, common sense approach to life, work and money. He is a keen supporter of AFL Premiers Hawthorn, and loves to spend time with his wife and very special kids.
Personal achievements include the Association of Financial Advisors 2007 Rising Star Award and Financial Adviser of the Year Finalist 2010; Apogee FP Rapid Growth Finalist 2012 and Telstra Small Business Award Finalist 2013.
Lastly, Chris’s desire to give back to the financial service industry is reflected in his new initiative Club RT; an organization that he started with his business partner and former AFA Rising Star Winner, Matt Hale. Club RT is financial planning academy for self-employed advisers who are already good but want to become great.
